What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is the art of balancing the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system. The nervous system is the wiring that runs the whole body, including the muscles, organs and bone position among other systems. Thus, changes in the nervous system or musculoskeletal system can change the function of the whole body.
What happens during my appointment?
During your first visit, the doctor will listen to your health concerns and ask you questions in order to form a picture of your current and past state of health. This history will guide the doctor as she performs physical, neurological, and orthopedic exams of the whole body. This gives the doctor an idea of how your body is functioning as well as a baseline in order to measure change and progress made throughout the treatment. After the exam, you and the doctor will discuss what was found and how chiropractic may or may not help. The exam and treatment will cause you no pain. All methods used in treatment are non-invasive and have been created to be extremely gentle.
What is SOT?
SOT (Sacro Occipital Technique) is s system of rebalancing the body created by Dr Major B. Dejarnette. This holistic approach describes how the body is always in balance and how for each bone in the body, there is another bone that balances it. The gentle stabilization of the sacrum and occiput is key to a healthy foundation. An improper balance may cause musculoskeletal symptoms such as back, neck pain, or issues in the extremeties such as carpal tunnel syndrome, shoulder pain and tennis elbow. Internal organs may also be affected, as they sit inside the pelvic basin, which may become irritated. Visceral symptoms may include PMS, infertility, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, colic, headache and indigestion. SOT has a system of indicators that allows the doctor to determine and correct the imbalances of the entire body. SOT is a gentle and profound treatment that is done at Smart Chiropractic.
What is Activator Technique?
Evolved from thirty-five years of empirical study and fifteen years of clinical research, the Activator Methods Chiropractic Technique (AMCT) uses the latest advances in orthopedic, neurological, and chiropractic innovations to seek out joint dysfunction in the spinal column and extremities. AMCT uses the Activator Adjusting Instrument to give consistent, low force, high speed chiropractic adjustments. The Activator is a chiropractic instrument used at Smart Chiropractic in order to promote a healthy balance in the spine and extremities. A spring loaded instrument, the Activator is another non-invasive, low force technique that helps guide the body to a normal balance.
